During the lockdown and quarantine period as a result of Covid-19, one starts appreciating more the simple things in life that are available to everyone for free, such as the hot weather during summer and the joyful and fun activities, like surfing, that we do with family and friends.

When we worked our way around Hook Point on the southern tip of Fraser Island, headed towards the ferry back to the mainland, we found that the beach was not yet passable due to the high tide. Instead, we got to watch the ferry (in the distance to the right of the photo) as we fished, played ball, and took photos on the beach on a perfect summer's day. I think we were all pretty happy that we got stuck there -- it was the perfect way to end a great trip.

A boat lies high and dry on the beach at Conwy, North Wales as it is now low tide. Here the river ends its journey to the Irish Sea having begun life on the Migneint Moor, 34 miles away. Across the estuary is the bulk of the Great Orme and behind us is the toiwn of Conwy dominated by Edward I's massive castle. This image has been finished as a digital pencil drawing.

The coastline of North Cornwall is a photographer's delight. The ocean has pounded away at the edge of this land for millions of years to form fascinating coves, headlands, cliffs, bays, etc. all to make the scenery spectacular. This image is of Trebarwith Strand at high tide. The tidal fluctuations are great on this stretch of coast. At low tide, a wide beach (strand) opens up, one that is popular with surfers, but at high tide, the waves break against the rocky cliffs. The air is full of ocean breezes and the sound of the crashing waves gives a wonderful sense of excitement. It's wild and untameable, and beauteous beyond compare.

This image captures the last sunset of 2013 over the North Sea and St Mary's Island. The image was taken from Collywell Bay, Seaton Sluice and shows a lovely red and blue sky reflected on the water in the Bay and a clear view to the horizon in the clear evening air.

St Mary's Lighthouse and island lie north of the River Tyne and Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast of England. The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible at low tide when the causeway is not under water. The image was taken at High Tide on a very cold December morning shortly after sunrise with a small flock of sanderlings feeding at the water's edge on a small bit of exposed sand.
