Roe in Great Britain (which was part of the Hawker Siddeley Group), purchased the Victory Aircraft factory at Malton Airport in Ontario to establish A.V. Roe Canada Limited (Avro Canada). Avro’s Gas Turbine Division was spun off as its own company, Orenda Engines Limited, in 1956, and while Avro Canada folded in 1962, Orenda continued to produce jet engines until the mid-'70s.
