The Lancaster was the UK's most famous heavy bomber of world war two.

The Rolls-Royce Merlin is a British liquid-cooled V-12 piston aero engine of 27-litre (1,650 cu in) capacity. Rolls-Royce designed the engine and first ran it in 1933 as a private venture. Initially known as the PV-12, it was later called Merlin following the company convention of naming its four-stroke piston aero engines after birds of prey. The engine benefitted from the racing experiences of precursor engines in the 1930s.

This original design was created in Illustrator using different historical sources. It's a red Tudor rose, a combination of the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York. The Tudor rose is the traditional floral heraldic emblem of England.

One of only two flying examples of the RAF's WW2 Avro Lancaster Bomber, FM213, painted as the wartime KB726/VR-A of No. 419 (Moose) Squadron, made a memorable visit to the UK and is shown here returning what was RAF Middleton St. George and is now Teesside International Airport. This flying example of the most famous of wartime RAF bombers is now in the care of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
