The Twin Pines Ranch was the ranch of Otis Peabody in 1955. It consisted of a ranch house, and barn, and his prized twin pine trees, and was reached by means of a dirt access road leading from the main highway. Due to a radiation suited Marty and the DeLorean bearing a close resemblance to an alien and spaceship featured in Mr. Peabody's son Sherman's Tales from Space comic book, Mr. Peabody began to fire a shotgun at Marty. As Marty drove fast to get away from danger, he accidentally ran over one of Mr. Peabody's prized twin pines, leaving a lone pine.

It's not often you find a lone tree in Finland -- it's usually surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of others -- but this pine on top of Lampivaara Amethyst Mine was one of those few loners.

Hill Valley is a fictional town in California that serves as the setting of the Back to the Future trilogy and its animated spin-off series. In the trilogy, Hill Valley is seen in four different time periods – 1885, 1955, 1985, and 2015 – as well as in a dystopian alternate 1985.[1] The films contain many sight gags, verbal innuendos and detailed set design elements, from which a detailed and consistent history of the area can be derived. The city name "Hill Valley" is a joke, being an oxymoron. However, an early script for Back to the Future Part II mentioned that Hill Valley was named after its founder, William "Bill" Hill.

We had stopped in Lone Pine for the night, on our way to Tahoe, so we could get up early to shoot the Alabama Hills arches in the best light. Unfortunately, that morning, the sky was blue and boring. On our return, we were headed to Death Valley for a couple days, but hit stormy weather. When we got back to Lone Pine, I decided to take a detour to see if we could get good shots with dramatic skies. I was able to get this shot of Lathe Arch as one storm passed and another was headed our way. Lathe Arch is relatively small and easily missed. From this perspective it looks HUGE! I think it was worth the side trip! I hope you agree.
