Description: Lou Reed took Velvet Underground songs, electrified them to the maximum and turned them into something else entirely. Rock n Roll Animal (1974) is a live album recorded at Howard Stein's Academy in New York — Lou Reed backed by a hard rock band that transforms classics like Sweet Jane and Heroin into heavy guitar beasts of unstoppable groove. A bold reinvention that proved great songs survive any version. The cover — that ambiguous, androgynous, golden image — is one of the most iconic in 70s rock. Pure art. For those who know that Lou Reed never did what was expected of him. And that's exactly why he's eternal.
