The Danse Macabre (from the French language), also called the Dance of Death, is an artistic genre of allegory of the Late Middle Ages on the universality of death: no matter one's station in life, the Dance Macabre unites all. The Danse Macabre consists of the dead or a personification of death summoning representatives from all walks of life to dance along to the grave, typically with a pope, emperor, king, child, and laborer. It was produced as memento mori, to remind people of the fragility of their lives and how vain were the glories of earthly life.[1] Its origins are postulated from illustrated sermon texts; the earliest recorded visual scheme was a now-lost mural at Holy Innocents' Cemetery in Paris dating from 1424 to 1425.

The death moth has fascinated artists for a long time, and this is my surreal interpretation of it. I went overboard with skulls and eyeballs, added some horns and bone like structures… Overall, I spent like 30 hours designing this tiny beast to make it look evil, macabre, spooky, gothic and extra cool. I hope you like it, I really enjoyed drawing it…

Let the Danse Macabre Begin!

This is my render of THE MAGICIAN, a very cool Tarot card with a beautiful meaning. I have kept some of the classic symbolism, like the snake belt, the infinity symbol, the sword and pentacles... I just made it weirder and more "my own". This card suggests you should use your will power, strength and intelligence to move forward and take action instead of holding yourself back. Determination is the key!
