Description: This design comes from an untitled Japanese picture postcard, originally color lithograph with ink on card stock, which was likely produced around 1906. The postcard represents a mood of political disillusionment after the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). I have carefully redrawn, recolored, and refinished this work of art by hand in order to preserve this interesting piece of history. The text reads: “Ah, have we been sold out?! Description: The Oda clan (織田氏 Oda-shi) was a family of Japanese daimyōs who were to become an important political force in the unification of Japan in the mid-16th century. Though they had the climax of their fame under Oda Nobunaga and fell from the spotlight soon after, several branches of the family continued as daimyō houses until the Meiji Restoration. The Oda Clan kamon represents hope of family prosperity.
