Moth Tapestries
Description: The death moth has fascinated artists for a long time, and this is my surreal interpretation of it. I went overboard with skulls and eyeballs, added some horns and bone like structures… Overall, I spent like 30 hours designing this tiny beast to make it look evil, macabre, spooky, gothic and extra cool. I hope you like it, I really enjoyed drawing it…
Description: Did you know that an adult luna moth only lives for about one week so they can mate? They lack a mouth and don't consume food during its adult stage. Luckily, this also lacks a mouth! Show your love for this insect who only lives 1 without the worry of interrupting one of its four life stages.
Description: Death moth – I decided to put an eye on it, instead of the classic skull. Because of reasons: The moth is a symbol of death and soul. In Slavic tradition butterflies and moths are believed to spirits of the deceased who visit their birth home forty days after they’ve died. Nighttime moths are often called Witches – there was a tradition where people would catch moths and maim them, so they could discover which woman was a witch. They would know this because the day after the maiming, witches would have the same injuries as moths. I’m more fascinated by moths used to tell who’s a witch, than moth as a symbol of death and spirit, and that is why I put an eye in this design instead of a skull (I spy with my little eye a little witch!)
