The Big Fiddle Sydney Nova Scotia Canada by Debra Martz Information Plaque Read: "The World’s Largest Fiddle located on the Sydney waterfront next to the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion greets visitors as they arrive via cruise ship. The fiddle and bow reach a height of 60 feet!" Made of solid steel, the giant fiddle was dubbed FIDHEAL MHOR A’ CEILIDH or the “Big Fiddle of the Ceilidh”. Ceilidh is a Gaelic word which translates into "visit." The Big Fiddle, as many call it, was designed and constructed by Cyril Hearn in 2005. Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. was a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music. He is credited with helping to define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. He has been referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter, having several gold and multi-platinum albums and songs covered by some of the world's most renowned musical artists. Lightfoot's biographer Nicholas Jennings said, "His name is synonymous with timeless songs about trains and shipwrecks, rivers and highways, lovers and loneliness.

Slik Toxik was formed in '88 from the Toronto hard rock band Portrait, which was later renamed Slik Toxik after some lineup changes. Capitol signed the band in '91 and issued an EP, 'Smooth And Deadly,' followed in '92 by the full album 'Doin' the Nasty,' both of which were recorded at Phase One in Toronto. Despite an enthusiastic grassroots following and considerable recognition, the '90s proved to be rough sailing for the band. Their second album, 'Irrelevant' was released in '94, and despite the efforts of all involved, the record was not well received by the grunge-obsessed public.

The Smilin' Buddha Cabaret was a Vancouver "Supper Club" opened in 1953 by Albert Kwan. Its iconic neon sign, now found at the Museum of Vancouver, was a city landmark, and one of the most ornate pieces of neon signwork ever made in Vancouver. While "The Buddha" or "Smiley's" welcomed many great musicians to its small stage from the '50s to well into the '90s, it was more simply known as a place for local and touring musicians to congregate. The venue closed seemingly for good in 1993, serving its last 16–17 years as Vancouver's epicenter of punk rock, though the space would be resurrected in 2013 as an indoor skate park and music venue where punk bands could once again take the stage and rock the house.
