Description: Pair of Pekin Duck (Anas platyrhynchos domestica or Anas peking) swimming on a small wetland. It is a breed of domesticated duck used primarily for egg and meat production. It was bred from the Mallard in China. Photographed at a suburban wetland, Oakland Native Fish Sanctuary in Adelaide, at some stage having escaped or been released from a domestic situation. Description: A return to wildlife watercolours. From the start of this year I've been fortunate to have taken on a job where one of the daily tasks is to feed the garden's birds. This has allowed me the opportunity to capture some primary photographic reference that I've then painted from. When it comes to wildlife paintings, I like to work in watercolours because it adds a bit more of that hand painted element. Mistakes can be made and it only adds to the final product. I also worked these paintings a little more illustrative by adding in some thick outlines, cross hatching where it was welcomed and a little touch of pencils and paint pens.
