Polar Exploration Tapestries
Description: Polar Exploration - SS Fram is a ship that was used in expeditions of the Arctic and Antarctic regions by the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen between 1893 and 1912. It was designed for Fridtjof Nansen's 1893 Arctic expedition in which the plan was to freeze Fram into the Arctic ice sheet and float with it over the North Pole.
Description: The United States Antarctic Research Program (USARP) has operated in Antarctica since 1959, sending teams of scientists down south every Austral Summer to discover new information about the frozen continent. My grandfather was one-such explorer, and he worked in Antarctica throughout the early years of the 1960s. One of the greatest gifts I ever received was his old exploration parka, emblazoned with the logo of the USARP. The logo speaks of adventure, danger and exploration in the most isolated part of the world. Whenever you don one these exploration-inspired pieces of clothing or write in your USARP-styled notebook, you can celebrate the endeavour and the ingenuity of the brave men and women who have made Antarctica their home.
Description: Antarctica Exploration - Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer of the polar regions. He was a key figure of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. He was the first man to reach the South Pole, and was a member of the first undisputed expedition to reach the North Pole aboard the airship Norge, which overflew the area in 1926.
Description: Franklin Expedition - Franklin's lost expedition was a failed British voyage of Arctic exploration led by Captain Sir John Franklin that departed England in 1845 aboard two ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, and was assigned to traverse the last unnavigated sections of the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic.
Description: Shackleton leadership meets Antarctic exploration in this dramatic scene of a historic polar expedition ship surrounded by icebergs. Above the frozen sea, the question WHAT WOULD SHACKLETON DO challenges managers, team leaders, adventurers and history enthusiasts to lead with courage, resilience and teamwork. A meaningful design for fans of maritime history, exploration and inspirational leadership.

The expedition met with disaster after both ships and their crews, a total of 129 officers and men, became icebound in Victoria Strait near King William Island in what is today the Canadian territory of Nunavut. After being icebound for more than a year, Erebus and Terror were abandoned in April 1848, by which point two dozen men, including Franklin, had died.
Description: The ship Aurora anchors near an ice shelf as two explorers tend a smoking stove beside their tents, with a polar bear and seals prowling the frozen shoreline nearby. Green aurora ribbons streak the swirling blue-and-yellow night sky above the ship's glowing windows and the word AURORA lit along its hull.
