The Dead Rabbits became part of popular culture when they were portrayed in Martin Scorsese’s 2006 film “Gangs of New York” with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the fictional leader of the well known gang. The Dead Rabbits Gang was easily identified by the red striped shirts they wore to show their affiliation with the gang.
