Description: In 1947, during the creation of the 1st Colonial Demonstration Commandos Parachutists, Colonel MASSU decided to create a badge of common arm to all the Crab colonial. Units are asked to submit various projects. Colonel MASSU chooses the "dragon" (the project was designed by a non-commissioned officer). At first, we said "dragon", maybe because the dragon is the mythological animal of Vietnam and then we were in the middle of the Indochina war. The play of words was quickly found and one spoke with humor of the "Rabbit with GILLES" that one associated with the chimera. The colors of the latter are, by tradition, the same as those of the "Pegase" worn on the sleeve by SAS paratroopers; ie blue on amaranth background.
