The Salina Coyotes was the final moniker of minor league baseball teams based in Salina, Kansas between 1898 and 1914. In that span, Salina teams played as members of the Class D level Kansas State League (1898), Central Kansas League (1908–1910, 1912), and Kansas State League (1913–1914), winning the 1898 league championship. The early Salina teams hosted minor league games at Athletic Park. The Coyotes were succeeded by the 1922 Salina Millers of the Southwestern League.

After crossing the bridge, we saw a road for a boat ramp so we turned in for a view of the lake. The lake was somewhat calm allowing for wonderful reflections in this nature scene. The Mirror of Nature by Debra Martz Hudson Lake is located near Salina, Oklahoma. We were driving the smaller back highways as we returned home from a trip to Arkansas. After crossing the bridge, we saw a road for a boat ramp so we turned in for a view of the lake. At the height of the Great Depression in 1935, William Graves has just lost the family farm. Utilizing the lone asset that he had – a 1933 farm truck – Graves and his four sons formed Graves Truck Service, and began transporting everything from fruits and vegetables to livestock and coal in the Salina, Kansas area. Two years later, the Graves doubled their fleet by buying a second truck, and the seeds of a regional trucking giant were sown. The firm grew into an interstate colossus, with operating territory that stretched from Sioux City south to Dallas and from Kansas City west to Denver. Sadly, William Graves died in 1939, well before the empire had been built, but the company was left in his sons' capable hands.

There were two incarnations of the baseball team known as the Salinas Packers. The first existed from 1954 to 1958, and was affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1955 and the Milwaukee Braves from 1956 to 1958. The second incarnation existed from 1973 to 1975, and was affiliated with the California Angels. Both incarnations were located in Salinas, California and played in the California League.
