Description: Marie Curie portrait and quote: I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician: he is also a child placed before natural phenomena which impress him like a fairy tale. We should not allow it to be believed that all scientific progress can be reduced to mechanisms, machines, gearings, even though such machinery also has its beauty. Neither do I believe that the spirit of adventure runs any risk of disappearing in our world. If I see anything vital around me, it is precisely that spirit of adventure, which seems indestructible and is akin to curiosity.
Description: A Tesla coil is an electrical resonant transformer circuit designed by inventor Nikola Tesla in 1891. It is used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high frequency alternating-current electricity. Tesla used these circuits to conduct innovative experiments in electrical lighting, phosphorescence, X-ray generation, high frequency alternating current phenomena, electrotherapy and the transmission of electrical energy without wires (Wikipedia). You’ve probably seen a person with a protective Faraday suit and then are bombarded with arcs of lightning from two giant Tesla towers flanking the person, without any harm done. I created this image to give credit to Nikola Tesla for his sheer brilliance and the outstanding researcher he was.
