This was the first custom built frame that Tom Warmerdam at Demon Frameworks Southampton ever made and its a very special and totally unique bike, in creating all his frames Tom aims to reflect his customers individual style - similar to painting a portrait. The elegant seat stays echo the rake of the forks, the lugs are carefully hand crafted, filed and lined, the distinctive handlebars are made of wood and complement the classic Brooks leather saddle. My first racing bike was a Lilac Carlton Corsa, this is a modified version in aqua similar to the Equipe colourway. It still sports the Weinmann centre pull brakes but everything else has been altered, including the dimpled French style full aluminium mudguards, cream Schwalbe Delta Cruiser tyres and leather Brooks Swallow saddle. I really enjoyed recreating the chrome effect in paint, so popular on 60s and 70s bicycles. Great fun to build and to ride this bike just on special occasions like Sky rides or to pop to the local shops. The reverse brake levers, dimpled full aluminium mudguards and fancy aluminium chain stay all pay homage to the humble French Porteur bicycles of the 50s and 60s.
