Space Comics Tapestries
Description: SilverHawks is a carton series developed by Rankin/Bass Productions in 1986 as a space-based equivalent of their previous series, Thunder Cats. As with earlier works, the animated series was accompanied by an action figure line as well as a comic book series. The plot finds a bionic space enforcer called Commander Stargazer recruited by the SilverHawks, cybernetic heroes who fight evil. Specifically, they fight Mon*Star, an escaped alien crime boss who transforms into an enormous armor-plated creature with the help of Limbo's Moonstar. Joining Mon*Star in his villainy is an intergalactic mob. The series ran for a single season of 65 episodes, and the comics and toy line didn't come out until the show was in syndication the following year.
Description: Howard the Duck is a 1986 film based on the comic book character of the same name. The movie sees Howard suddenly beamed from Duckworld, a planet of intelligent ducks with arms and legs, to Earth, where he lands in Cleveland. There, he saves rocker Beverly from thugs and forms a friendship with her. She introduces him to Phil, who works at a lab with scientist Dr. Jenning. When the doctor attempts to return Howard to his world, Jenning instead transfers an evil spirit into his own body. The film was a critical and commercial failure, and is considered among the worst films of all time, but like all things terrible, it has also developed a cult following and even calls for a reboot or the sequel that never happened to finally be produced.
Description: Anthony "Buck" Rogers, a former Air Force service pilot, working as a mining surveryor, is trapped in a cave-in. Over come by a strange radioactive gas that places him in suspended animation, he wakes up 500 years later! Joined by Wilma Deering, her brother Buddy, and the brilliant Dr. Huer, the battle the evil Mongol hords, led by Killer Kane and the malevolently beautiful Ardala, who are out to enslave the world in the year 2419 A.D. Many comics aficionados consider the adventure strips of the 1930s to constitute a Golden Age. And most who feel that way consider that Golden Age to have started with the simultaneous debut of Tarzan of the Apes and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century A.D., on Jan. 7, 1929.

At the same time, numerous cults are predicting different ends of the world. One cult gets worried that another is right, and changes its apocalypse date to that year, and starts the signs of the apocalypse. Tank Girl’s baby-to-be is seen as the messiah, so the Brothers of Baal set out to capture her, but when the going gets tough, Tank Girl heads for Mars.
Description: In the mid-'70s, Omega Man and Planet of the Apes were hot sci-fi films garnering a lot of public interest, so when you're looking for a new comic book title, why not merge themes from both hit movies and give it a vampire twist? Surely it can't lose, right? Sadly, 1975's Planet of Vampires didn't cut it and only made it for three issues before the title was canceled by its publisher.
