Nationwise Rod Shop 1974 Tapestry
Main Tag:

Description: Founded in 1964 in Columbus, Ohio, Nationwise was a chain of auto parts stores in the United States. In 1974, Nationwise partnered with Columbus-based engine builders, The Rod Shop, sponsoring a series of highly successful drag racecars. In stores, a Rod Shop section was created as kind of a speed shop inside of a parts store. In addition to go fast goodies from all the big names, Nationwise also sold Rod Shop branded performance parts. These parts were typically embossed with NRS (Nationwise Rod Shop), making them easy to identify by collectors, even decades later. The Rod Shop partnership ended in 1987, and less than a decade later, Nationwise became insolvent, and closed all stores on Sunday, October 15, 1995 at 3:00 PM.

JENKINS COMPETITION RACING ENGINES // 1955 VINTAGE Tapestry
Main Tag:

Description: By the early ’60s, Bill Jenkins had developed something of a cult following among East Coast racers, who knew that a Jenkins Competition engine significantly increased one’s odds of winning races and when he wasn’t building race-winning engines, he was winning races driving his own cars, further cementing his name in the drag racing history books. Accepting that he gained greater satisfaction as a builder than as a driver, Jenkins hung up his race suit in 1976 to focus on research and development, though remained a team owner through the 1983 season before shifting his attention to his Jenkins Competition business full-time, where he and his crew built engines for motorsports of all kinds. Even into his mid-70s, Jenkins was said to be activ

Bee Line Dragway // Arizona Drag Racing // 1963 Vintage Tapestry
Main Tag:

Description: Beeline Dragway was one of the premier racing destinations in the Valley. Built in 1963 by local entrepreneur Jim Rogers on land leased from the Salt River Pima Indian tribe, the facility featured a pair of quarter-mile asphalt lanes where fired-up four wheel speed machines burnt rubber and shot forward at breakneck speeds of well over 200 miles-per-hour. Tricked-out muscle cars that were wildly popular amongst motorheads in that era - including Dodge Chargers, Ford Mustangs, and Pontiac GTO - regularly raced at the track, earning screams of delight from crowds as drivers put their pedals to the metal. The long and skinny custom-built dragster vehicles that are widely associated with the sport were also a common sight at the Beeline.

ThermoQuad Carburetors 1971 Tapestry
Main Tag:

Description: Carter Carburetor Company in St. Louis, Missouri, was established in 1909 by William Carter, who started experimenting with carburetors while running a successful bicycle shop. His first cast brass carb could meter and deliver fuel more accurately than many competing units, and easily found a place in the market. Carter became a major OEM supplier to Detroit. In 1971, they introduced the ThermoQuad four barrel. It was available in two sizes, rated according to air flow – 850 and 1000 CFM. The higher flow model was the largest street carburetor in terms of air flow when released, and was a factory part on many of the muscle cars of the era. Gear heads have a love/hate relationship with ThermoQuads, in that they either love or hate them.
