Description: From 1915 through 1975, A&P was the largest grocery retailer in the United States. This design features A&P's 1976 rebrand logo which featured a new sunrise effect with a set of colored bands leading up to an offset A&P mark in a new, more modern typeface - the first major update since 1859.
Description: Piggly Wiggly is an American supermarket chain operating in the American Southern and Midwestern regions run by Piggly Wiggly, LLC, an affiliate of C&S Wholesale Grocers. Its first outlet opened in 1916 in Memphis, Tennessee, and is notable as the first true self-service grocery store, and the originator of various familiar supermarket features such as checkout stands, individual item price marking and shopping carts. The company headquarters is in Keene, New Hampshire. As of 2024, 503 independently owned Piggly Wiggly stores currently operate across 18 states, primarily in smaller cities and towns.
Description: The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known as A&P, was an American chain of grocery stores that ceased supermarket operations in November 2015, after 156 years in business. From 1915 through 1975, A&P was the largest grocery retailer in the United States (and until 1965, the largest U.S. retailer of any kind). This design features A&P's 1976 rebrand logo which featured a new sunrise effect with a set of colored bands leading up to an offset A&P mark in a new, more modern typeface - the first major update since 1859.
Description: Alpha Beta was a chain of supermarkets in the Southwestern U.S. that operated from 1917 to 1995. Before Alpha Beta was the name of a store, it was the name of a concept used in grocery stores founded by Albert and Hugh Gerrard. It referred to organizing groceries in the store in alphabetical order. The Gerrards applied this idea to their Triangle Grocerteria in 1915 and continued it in Alpha Beta stores well into the future. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the television spokesman for the Alpha Beta used various slogans such as "You Can't Lose" and "The Savings Don't Stop," though every spot ended with him saying "tell a friend." This slogan was also promoted on giveaways like t-shirts and mugs, as well as balloons and shopping bags.
Description: "Where else are you going to buy a six-pack, condoms, and cigarettes when you're high at three in the morning?" Despite calling themselves a supermarket, 24/7 is most definitely a convenience store. From cigarettes and liquor, to girly magazines and snacks, 24/7 Supermarkets have you covered. These small retail stores can be found throughout San Andreas, primarily in Los Santos and Blaine County, and are a popular spot to shop, shoplift, and straight up rob at gunpoint.
Description: 1992's Army of Darkness takes place after the events of Evil Dead II and sees Ash transported to the medieval past, where he must battle an army of undead to retrieve the Necronomicon and return to his own time. Armed with his chainsaw hand and boomstick, Ash finds himself caught in the middle of a war between rival factions and the forces of darkness, forcing him to use his wit and weapons to fight and survive. The Japanese release of Army of Darkness was released under the name "Captain Supermarket," the title being taken from Ash's chosen vocation as a clerk at S-Mart. I guess some things just don't translate correctly, but whatever the case, we're glad this one went down the way it did, as it's totally groovy.
Description: Piggly Wiggly was the first self-service grocery store.[5] It was founded by Clarence Saunders on September 6, 1916 (although it did not open until five days later due to delays in construction), at 79 Jefferson Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee.A replica of the original store has been constructed in the Memphis Pink Palace Museum and Planetarium, a mansion that Saunders built as his private residence, which was later sold to the city. At the time of its founding, grocery stores did not allow customers to gather their goods. Instead, a customer would give a list of items to a clerk, who would then collect them throughout the store.

Description: A supermarket trip can be extremely boring when you walk through the aisles without buying anything cheap or expensive. You look at the shelves, read labels, compare prices, and keep moving. There may be plenty to see, but somehow nothing feels worth putting in the basket. So you continue wandering until the whole trip starts to feel like a slow tour with no real destination. The very funny part is reaching the end and realizing that you spent the time looking at food, thinking about food, and doing absolutely nothing about it. No exciting discovery, no dramatic purchase, not even a small snack for later. Just a long walk through rows of perfectly normal items. At least the trip was consistent from beginning to end. Nothing unusual there.
The other day I went to the supermarket, but I just walked around, looked at the items, and didn't do anything at all. It was a truly boring experience! Tapestry

Description: Ultra-realistic smartphone photo of a full-sized horse casually shopping in a modern supermarket. The horse stands in the middle of the grocery aisle, pushing a shopping trolley with its nose as if it's a completely normal customer. The trolley is filled with random groceries like bananas, cereal, frozen pizza, and soft drinks. Other shoppers walk by without reacting, creating a deadpan, surreal atmosphere. Bright supermarket fluorescent lighting reflects off the polished floor, with colorful shelves stretching into the background. The photo looks like it was quickly taken by a customer on a phone—slight handheld camera shake and subtle motion blur around the edges, but the horse's face is perfectly sharp and in focus. Description: Treating the local grocery store like a contemporary art museum is a way to spend an afternoon. Walking through aisles of cereal boxes, inspecting imported cheeses, and reading cleaning product labels without any intention of purchasing a basic item confuses standard consumer behavior. You stroll past produce bins and frozen desserts with hands behind your back, admiring packaging design and observing fellow shoppers rushing in panic. The humor stems from the sheer pointlessness of the excursion, subverting the practical goal of shopping in favor of aimless visual appreciation. It changes a routine errand into a delightfully absurd, leisurely sightseeing exhibition, proving that quiet observation can be vastly more fun than spending money.

Description: Some people walk into a supermarket with a list. Others walk in and immediately start planning how to get the entire building. Why settle for one bag of chips when you could own the aisle? Why share the last cookie when you could simply purchase the company that makes them? The checkout line becomes less of a queue and more of a minor obstacle between you and total grocery domination. And if someone asks whether you’re buying a little too much, the answer is obviously no—you’re just preparing for a very interesting snack emergency. There would be no arguing over what to buy, no fighting over the last slice of pizza, and absolutely no complaints about someone eating your favorite cereal. The only problem? You’d still somehow forget the milk.

Description: Strolling down grocery aisles surrounded by towering shelves of packaged treats inspires some consumer wishes. While sensible shoppers adhere to modest lists and weekly budgets, passionate eaters envision purchasing commercial inventories without restriction. You can imagine loading checkout conveyor belts with endless boxes of cookies, gourmet cheeses, frozen pizzas, and bakery cakes, totally unwilling to share a single morsel with someone else. This fantasy isn't about feeding a crowd; it is an unapologetic quest to hoard delicious sustenance for solitary enjoyment. Piling food pantries to the ceiling provides profound comfort against everyday stress. The humor here elevates shopping dynamics, celebrating the big desire of endless snacks.
