Description: The Jacob's Ladder design is inspired by the original 1990 psychological horror movie directed by Adrian Lyne and written by Bruce Joel Rubin. Tim Robbins stars as Jacob Singer, a Vietnam vet, now working as a postal worker, whose life begins to slip out of control as he experiences bizarre flashbacks of his earlier life and terrifying hallucinations. A cult classic, Jacob's Ladder also starred Elizabeth Pena, Danny Aiello and a very young Macauley Culkin.
Description: This artworks refers to the exploration of contrasting themes (duality) within Waits' music and persona, such as the contrast between the beautiful and the grotesque, the hopeful and the broken, and the sweet and the raw aspects of humanity and existence. This includes his distinctive voice that shifts between different textures, the blend of conventional musical forms with experimental sounds, and the duality of his lyrical content, which often juxtaposes sentimentality with cynical or bleak observation.
