Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole. One of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas, it's known for its rugged, remote terrain of glaciers and frozen tundra sheltering polar bears, Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes. The Northern Lights are visible during winter, and summer brings the “midnight sun”—sunlight 24 hours a day. This tourist style design is a tongue in cheek vision of what happens when polar bear poachers get what's coming to them along with the text "Visit High Arctic Svalbard" in Norwegian, so whether you're into wildlife violently rising up or just souvenirs from far away lands, this one is for you!

Templet mountain is a vast mountain in Spitsbergen at the entrance to the Tempelfjorden Fjord. The 766 m mountain's name Templet stems from its resemblance to a ruined Gothic cathedral. World’s smallest reindeer species!

Longyerbyen lies 650 miles from the North Pole in Svalbard. It was established as a mining community in 1906 by John Longyear and totally destroyed in WWII by the German Navy. It now has a population of just over 1,000 and relies mainly on scientific research and tourism although some mining and fishing are carried out. Only a small part of the population are long term residents with the average stay in the town being just over 6 years. Picture taken on 8th June 2023 in Longyearbyen town.

Pyramiden (Пирамида Piramida in Russian) is an abandoned Russian settlement and coal-mining community on the archipelago of Svalbard, Norway. Founded by Sweden in 1910 and sold to the USSR in 1927, Pyramiden was closed in 1998, as it was no longer economically viable to maintain it. I visited in 2018 and wanted to make something to remember my visit to this surreal Ghost Town. This vintage design aims to capture the some of the atmosphere of this former home to 1000 people.

A bearded seal taking a rest on the ice flows around the coast of Svalbard in the Arctic. The bearded seal has become something of a redhead because when hungry the seal looks for food on the seabed near the Norwegian island of Svalbard. This is full of iron particles, the particles stick to hair follicles which causes a red and orange colour on the face. Taken near Longyearbyen on 10th June 2023 Nikon D780 and Tamron 150-600mm

Tunabreen is a glacier stream in Spitsbergen, Svalbard. The glacier is about 23 km long, divides Sabine Land from Bünsow Land and merges with the Von Postbreen Glacier as they enter Tempelfjorden. Tunabreen has an incredibly beautiful glacier front that takes the breath away from many. The beautiful blue colour is a contrast to the otherwise brown landscape and mountains. The locomotive came to Ny-Alesund in 1917 and was used to transport coal from the mines to the harbour until the 1950s

Longyearbyen was established by American John Munro Longyear, whose Arctic Coal Company started coal-mining there in 1906. It is the world's northernmost settlement with a population greater than 1,000 and the largest inhabited area of Svalbard, Arctic Norway. Although there is still some mining, the area depends mostly on tourism and scientific research for it's income. The large yellow building in the image is the town hospital.
