Tortilla Flats Tapestries

This was where I went when I lived in the Village, and where I went when I lived elsewhere. No place quite like it. Kitsch ruled, fun abounded, neighborhood sprung from this Tex-Mex watering hole.

Old West Wagon Wheels is a sepia tone photographic art print of old west wagon wheels. The setting is Tortilla Flats, located east of the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area up in the Superstition Mountains. Once a stage coach stop, Tortilla Flats is more of a tourist attraction with a great restaurant, small museum and gift shop all looking like an old west town including old wagons, wagon wheels and a replica of an entrance to a mine. I used a sepia tone finish and texture on the photograph for that old rustic look. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Greenwich Village in Manhattan is known for its quaint shops and restaurants. Even though the weather is chilly, this family, bundled up in their jackets, are having lunch at a local Mexican cafe with its colorful red, yellow and green striped awning.

Saguaro In The Desert is an art print I created using a fauvism oil technique. This technique uses abstract brush strokes and surreal colors creating a modern and contemporary look. The setting is the desert near Tortilla Flats which is just east of the Phoenix area up in the mountains. The Saguaro is indigenous to the Sonoran Desert and has become a trade mark for Arizona.
