Loving the Green

When we lived on Passmore Street, in the backyard, the back garden was full of Chinese lanterns in the fall. This is one of my digital paintings of those special beings, imagining myself down in the soil as one of them.

I painted this on my first iPad with iPastel. This was week #39 in 2013. It was a small file, so not big enough for prints. It is my step daughter Tania's favourite, so I took it into art rage, and upsized it, and did a bit more painting.

This was Jack. We called him Happy Jack because he was so..happy when he moved inside where he could be warm. He and his sister were born in an outside building. We could never coax his sister inside. I cannot recall what we called her, but I remember Alice, another feral cat. living outside with her.

This painting is different than the others, in that it is Mixed Media. The painting on the wall, is a photo of a painting by Keir Kenny, that hangs on our wall. The chair was my mom's. She upholstered it, and I picked out and sold her the fabric when working at a fabric store when I was 18. The cat is Happy Jack.
