Venice Tapestries
Description: Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is built on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by open water and canals, and portions of the city are linked by over 400 bridges. The city relies on a series of waterways and canals instead of roads, making it a romantic and historically important city.
Description: Walter Schneider and his partner B.M. Alexander were pioneers West Hollywood, opening their successful bar, The Gallery Room, in 1962, and also ran the hot club of the day, Up Disco. In the late '70s, Schneider and Alexander decided they’d like to live in Venice, and a friend found them a prime location on Abbot Kinney Boulevard to open a new gay bar at the beach. Opening their doors in 1979 under the name Roosterfish, the bar quickly became a gay hot spot on the westside. Roosterfish became a neighborhood favorite, and operated for decades until finally closing up shop in 2016.
Description: The Lion of Saint Mark, representing Mark the Evangelist, pictured in the form of a winged lion, is an aspect of the Tetramorph. On the pinnacle of St Mark's Cathedral he is depicted as holding a Bible, and surmounting a golden lion which is the symbol of the city of Venice and formerly of the Venetian Republic.
Description: Part of the attraction of visiting Venice is that there are surprises around every corner. All of a sudden you will come out of a dark alleyway and onto a small bridge over one of the many little canals and there will be a feast for the eyes. That is exactly how I found this canal and I was compelled to capture the scene, with all the warm shades of sunset and the lovely reflections in the water. Description: Venice is a Westside neighborhood founded in 1905 as a seaside resort town. It was later associated with Beatniks, hippies, and other bohemians.
