Gorgeous Waratah flowers create this unique, beautiful and vibrant pattern

This is actually a small section of a larger painting, but I kind of liked it so thought I'd try it out. Looks great on a pillow!

Waratahs look absolutely beautiful when they are all out in flower. They are an Australian native flower.

Often considered the most bloody-thirsty of the bushrangers, Clarke led a gang with his cousins the Connells and Berrimans and his brother John. He was supposedly responsible for the deaths of no less than four policemen and countless robberies in a bushranging career that ended with an epic shootout in the Jingera Ranges.

This image was captured on the walking track to Hanging Rock in October last year (2009). I've never seen so many waratahs in one place. The ants obviously love them. Waratahs herald the beginning of spring in the mountains. Hanging Rock is near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains of Australia (2 hours west of Sydney).
