Upstate Campers 1982 Tapestry

Slide-in truck campers came about some time in the '50s and gradually improved year over year, but it wasn't until the late '70s when Leonard Wilks of Pulaski, New York turned things up to eleven. As an avid outdoorsman with a wife and three kids, Leonard found that the campers on the market didn't suit his needs and decided to build his own. The result was a double-decker slide-in design that could sleep his whole family comfortably and pack everything they needed for a fun-filled camping trip. It didn't take long before like-minded individuals inquired about the unique design and if Leonard could build one for them, so in 1982 Upstate Campers was born. Leonard quit his factory job and began building his campers full time.
