Purple Iris in Colored Pencil Pillow

My second work in colored pencil! I ordinarily work in watercolor, alcohol ink, and ink, so I'm stretching my art wings a little. This began as a blind continuous line drawing of the shape of the flower. Once the flower was done, I did a blind continuous line drawing of the stem and the bud husk on it. After the line work was done, I began filling in color, burnishing, etc. I was amazed at how well the beginning drawing went - this was a fun challenge!
