With engines full astern a fishing boat manoeuvres away from the beach at Hastings, East Sussex. Fishing boats have been beached on this area of shingle known as The Stade, an Anglo-Saxon word for landing place, for over a thousand years and this is now the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Britain. Launching is done with the assistance of tractors which stay on the shingle alongside the boats. This image has added textures to give the appearance of a a pencil drawing.
