Description: Slik Toxik was formed in '88 from the Toronto hard rock band Portrait, which was later renamed Slik Toxik after some lineup changes. Capitol signed the band in '91 and issued an EP, 'Smooth And Deadly,' followed in '92 by the full album 'Doin' the Nasty,' both of which were recorded at Phase One in Toronto. Despite an enthusiastic grassroots following and considerable recognition, the '90s proved to be rough sailing for the band. Their second album, 'Irrelevant' was released in '94, and despite the efforts of all involved, the record was not well received by the grunge-obsessed public.
