It was certainly frustrating and exciting only painting with a spoon ?. Near the end though I was getting glimpses of texture I’m not sure I’ve produced before which kept me going all day yesterday. I debated about switching to a brush for the rainbow petaled tears but by that point I decided to take one word out of that famous Matrix line but say it to myself with the same zen like conviction,.. “There is spoon” #artJWB #LaMaquinaQueOye

A slow loris taking a slow stroll through the surreal version of Denver. This painting was inspired by watching all these adorable videos of slow lorises being stroked and petted ever so gently as they hold tiny umbrellas. And the background is a variation of a picture of a parking lot in Denver Colorado that I took. This painting was also completed at a time when I was looking for a slightly new approach to backgrounds. So as you can tell I was experimenting a bit. #artJWB #SlowStrollLoris #JacobWayneBryner

My first painting in Hangzhou, China. This is a painting that popped into my head when I saw an older woman riding her bike down the street and carrying an absurd load of nonsense on the back of the bike. I immediately wondered what sort of things had happened to her over her life and how much pressure she may or may not have dealt with during that time just trying to live day to day. I don't know, maybe she absolutely loves what she does, but to me she seemed to be worn down and just beaten. It was sad. #artJWB

In the dream I'm in the water and 3 siren mermaids are trying to drag me to the depths when all of a sudden a pinkish and blue orb surrounds me and quickly drags me to the surface. Once on land there is a beautiful trail before me and I look up and a figure who is hard to make out but through dream logic I understand to be Natalie Portman, has just saved me. She has the same orb glowing around her to the one that saved me from the water and as I look past where she is floating there are these horrible skeletal crabs stacked on top of one another trying to get to me. The foundations of this painting was forged in the remnants of a typhoon that smacked Seattle on Oct. 16th, 2016. I went into the flooding backyard as the storm raged and smacked my canvas into the rainwater. This punctured the canvas slightly but I feel it only adds to the nature of the piece itself. I then rushed the soaked canvas to my work table downstairs to squirt paint and swirl it into the rainwater. Then the basement started to flood. I left the canvas to sit and dry with the emotional swirls I had dragged into it. By the next day the urge to create this piece left with the storm. I had this unfinished piece with me these past few years. I knew I wanted to finish it but I wasn't absolutely sure how. Then I realized I wa...
