California Flower Pillows
Description: The Monterey International Pop Festival was a three-day concert event held June 16 to June 18, 1967 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California. The festival is remembered for the first major American appearances by numerous major artists of the '60s. The event embodied the theme of California as a focal point for the counterculture and generally is regarded as one of the beginnings of the “Summer of Love” in 1967. Because Monterey was widely promoted and heavily attended, featured historic performances, and was the subject of a popular theatrical documentary film, it became an inspiration and a template for future music festivals for decades to come...
Description: Established in 1960, Tower Records was once a retail powerhouse with two hundred stores in thirty countries across five continents. From humble beginnings in a small-town drugstore, Tower eventually became the heart and soul of the music world, and a powerful force in the music industry. In 1999, Tower made a cool $1 billion, yet in 2006 the company filed for bankruptcy before slowly disintegrating before our collective eyes. This design is from the 30-year anniversary celebration of the iconic Sunset Strip location, which opened in 1971 on the northwest corner of Sunset Boulevard and Horn Avenue in West Hollywood. Description: Flower Power Meets Foreign Policy: Retro Rock Poster California With a Florida Twist Can you spot the wrong state? Puff Sumo's psychedelic satire wraps melting 1960s CALIFORNIA lettering in a swirl of red, orange, and gold, then hides a white Florida silhouette in the negative space. It is a Haight-Ashbury rock poster with a punchline, a peace-and-love answer to the campaign rally remark about letting Iran take out Los Angeles and San Diego. Hot colors, hand-drawn curves, and counterculture attitude make it a conversation starter for protests, midterm season, and anyone who believes foreign policy should not be a rally applause line. A trippy geography quiz for hippies, map nerds, and anyone who gets the joke. Loud and vibrant.
