Description: “My Land. Pictures from Eretz Israel - Lotto,” Circa 1950. Box cover of a popular educational game for children. Published by Binyamin Barlevy Publishing, Tel Aviv, Israel. Designed by David Schneuer. Public domain, via PPPA. David Schneuer (1905–1988) was born in Przemysl, Poland and made Aliyah to Tel Aviv in 1933. He was a painter, stage designer, and graphic artist. Schneuer’s artistic style ranged from German Expressionism to local Israeli modernism. This lotto game was designed to teach children geography, landmarks, and scenes of everyday life in Israel. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
