Classical Ballet Art Pillows

A delicate black girl studies classical ballet and in her performance she receives lots of applause. She sinuously and masterfully beautiful thanks the audience.

Original concept for a new cultural adaptation of the romantic ballet Giselle -- the inspirations for this look incorporate New Orleans voodoo, Afro-Caribbean styling, and the Calavera Garbancera from the Mexican(-American) Dio de los Muertos. This Act II costume concept for the title role includes an overdyed kente-cloth skirt in a dress that references the China Poblana while maintaining this ballet's traditional elongated romantic-era silhouette, plus skull makeup dabbed with the warm purple associated with Ghede Nibo, the loa who has domain over slain innocents.
