Here you can see the 2 parts, the 2 neighborhoods of the Hora ("Capital") of Serifos island. On the left side, you can see the Ano (Upper) Hora, the old part, which was "hidden" on the back of the hill, far from the eyes of the pirates. On the right side of hill, lies the Kato (Lower) Hora, the "newer", "visible" part, where the colorful church, makes a great contrast with the white little houses. Deeper, on sea level, you can see a different village, called Livadi, which is the islands' harbor. In the background, on the horizon you can see a another beautiful island of the Kyklades, Sifnos. Photo taken from the "Miners' path". It is the path that starts from the Hora of Serifos and after a 2-2 and half hour walk goes to Mega Livad...

Re-furbished traditional windmill at Oia on Santorini, the Cyclades group in the Greek Islands. These windmills were used throughout the Eastern Mediterranean until the mid 1970's for grinding flour. Then left to fall into disrepair. In recent times many of them have been renovated to form part of hotels or have become up-market houses. Canon 500D, zoom lens. Fira, the capitol of Santorini is on top of a very large cliff. The town hangs precariously at the edge of the cliff. This shot is taken from the caldera. Cruise ships arrive every day during the summer months. The steep cliffs are 300 m (984 ft) high. See the Wikipedia entry for Santorini for more information on these facinating Islands. Firá, the capitol of the Greek island of Santorini hangs precariously at the edge of the cliff, 300 m (984 ft) above sea level. "Firá", is actually a different pronunciation of “Thíra”, the ancient name of the island itself. Each year a spectacular firework display recreates the explosion of the volcano which formed the volcanic caldera which is now Santorini, a Greek Island in the Cyclades Group in the Mediterranean Sea

This is Karavostasis, a small village and main harbor of Folegandros island. A very low cloud appeared right above the Aegean sea, that day, and and then like a serpent started to embrace the island following each and every mountain, hill, cliff and valley.
