Description: Inspired from a mosaic from the Island of Delos, Tanit was a Punic and a Berber goddess, chief goddess of Carthage alongside her consort Baal-Hamon. She was worshiped in the Western Mediterranean, in Sicily, Malta, North Africa, Gades and many other places into Hellenistic times. She was probably related to the Phoenician deity Astarte (Ishtar), worshiped in the Phoenician sites of Sidon and Tyre.
