Today 13th Oct 2015 is the start of Navaratri festival in India. It's the workship & celebration of Goddess Durga for next 9 days. In West Bengal it is the most important festival of the year. It is celebrated at the community level and also by individual family. In our family it's the most auspicious occasion where the whole house is cleaned completely and made ready for the festival. Another meaning of "Durga" is "Durgatinashini," which literally translates into "the one who eliminates sufferings."
