This comes from a print in E. A. Wallis Budge's book "The Gods of the Egyptians : or, Studies in Egyptian Mythology" (1904). It shows the deities Isis and Osiris from a papyrus scroll. To oversimplify extremely complex nuances of Egyptian mythology, Osiris is primarily the god of rebirth, resurrection, and the afterlife. Isis is one of the most powerful deities associated with motherhood, magic, and protection

This design is based of a talatat from Amarna in Ancient Egypt. Amarna was an 18th Dynasty city established by one of the most notorious pharaohs, Akhenaten. A talatat was a standardized piece of limestone that was used for construction and often decorated in beautiful imagery, sometimes relating to the worship of the Aten. Here the talatat represented a field of ripe barley, swaying in the breeze. I've recreated this as a block print and printed it by hand in before scanning it.

Archeology and women. Being hired as a draftsman, she achieved secretarial duties and managed to direct excavations. Although her merit has managed to reach our days, she worked alongside her husband since 1896, the archaeologist William Matthew Flinders Petrie. They founded the British School of Archeology in Egypt, but they also made important excavations around Palestine and Jerusalem. To his great work it is necessary to add that he made the search of funds for the excavations and documenting the advances.
