Equality Rising Pillows
Description: Equality for Every Woman: Rising is a mixed media canvas artwork developed from a screenprint test originally created as part of a women’s rights poster project. This piece continues my exploration of equality, focusing on empowerment, identity, and the strength of women and girls. At the centre, a hand lifts a jigsaw puzzle piece, a recurring symbol of connection and belonging within my work. Inside the puzzle is the female gender symbol, representing women’s identity and presence. Both the hand and the puzzle are rendered in soft pink tones, reinforcing ideas of femininity, unity, and strength. This inspirational quote from the South African leader and anti-apartheid activist is a reminder to never give up and keep working toward justice despite the setbacks. The red and orange flame color is designed to evoke a rising phoenix.
