Giuseppe Garibaldi (4 July 1807 in Nice – 2 June 1882 on Caprera) was an Italian general and politician and nationalist who played a large role in the history of Italy. He is considered, with Camillo Cavour, Victor Emmanuel II and Giuseppe Mazzini, as one of Italy's "fathers of the fatherland". Garibaldi was a central figure in the Italian Risorgimento, since he personally commanded and fought in many military campaigns that led eventually to the formation of a unified Italy. From 1861-1865, the Union Army even included a Regiment known as the "Garibaldi Guard”, after the famed Italian General, Giuseppe Garibaldi! The 39th New York Infantry Regiment, which saw action in many of the war’s most important battles, wore the plumed hat of the Italian Bersaglieri into battle to honor their Italian Roots! Now you can honor yours and share this often-overlooked chapter in Italian American history by wearing this proud new design honoring the Italian contribution to the Union Cause!

If you are traveling through the town of Garibaldi along the Oregon Coast, you will find this wonderful Piers End pier with a great view of the Tillamook Bay.
