Description: Embody the maritime power of the "Superba" with this authentic tribute to the Republic of Genoa. This intricate design features the dual Grifoni di Genova (Genoese Griffins) guarding the legendary Cross of St. George shield. Meticulously crafted in a 16th-century woodcut engraving style, the illustration is anchored by a majestic base featuring the Janus Bifronte (two-faced Janus), the mythical guardian of the city’s origins, nestled within a Renaissance scallop shell. Rendered in a deep, weathered Genoese Red with a distressed ink-stamp texture, this piece evokes the grandeur of ancient Mediterranean naval charts and noble seals. A perfect design for history enthusiasts, travelers, and those proud of their Ligurian roots.
Description: SS Andrea Doria was an ocean liner for the Italian Line (Società di navigazione Italia) home-ported in Genoa, Italy, known for her sinking in 1956, when 46 people died. Named after the 16th-century Genoese admiral Andrea Doria, the ship had a gross register tonnage of 29,100 and a capacity of about 1,200 passengers and 500 crew. For a country attempting to rebuild its shattered economy and reputation after World War II, Andrea Doria was an icon of Italian national pride. Of all Italy's ships at the time, Andrea Doria was the largest, fastest and supposedly safest. Launched on 16 June 1951, the ship began her maiden voyage on 14 January 1953.
