Northwest Pacific coast Haida art Salmon Pillow

Description: You can't go wrong with Northwest coast Haida art, it's been popular for decades. These First Nations designs are ideal for apparel and always look good. Formline is an indigenous art made by the First Nation people of Northwest coast of North America. The term formline is invented by Bill Holm. We use the word since 1965, but the art is many hundreds of years old. The idea is to create a flowing continuous line with increasing and decreasing thickness. We get negative spaces with a dominant black outline. The negative spaces are filled with formline type ornaments or elements. The main forms are ovoids, U forms and S forms. With these forms the artist composes a complete formline.

The Pacific Northwest coast is a beautiful place where I spent some happy holidays and a couple of years ago I decided to learn some of its native art. Formline is an indigenous art made by the First Nation people of Northwest coast of North America. The term formline is invented by Bill Holm. We use the word since 1965, but the art is many hundreds of years old. ...

Colorful abstract salmon Pillow
Main Tag:

Description: An abstract, colorful depiction of this salmon species (Coho, Steelhead, Chum, Pacific, Atlantic, Chinook). The vibrant colors symbolize the dynamic movement of these majestic creatures as they swim through the vast, swirling currents of the ocean. This fish is represented in a stylized, flowing pattern, giving the sense of continuous motion as they navigate their environment and prepare for their annual spawning journey. The colors are bold and diverse, ranging from deep blues and greens to bright oranges and reds, mirroring the vibrant hues found in the fish’s scales.
