Ivanhoe Pillows
Description: On the New England island of New Penzance, 12-year-old orphan Sam Shakusky attends Camp Ivanhoe, a Khaki Scout summer camp led by Scout Master Randy Ward. Suzy Bishop, also 12, lives on the island with her parents Walt and Laura, both lawyers, and her three younger brothers in a house called Summer's End.
Description: Ivanhoe was a community located just north of Los Angeles, so named by Scottish-born Mexican Hugo Reid (although it was also known as "Ivanhoe Town." Reid died in 1852. Ivanhoe was surveyed and mapped in 1887. Many of the street names were taken from Sir Walter Scott's novel or simply referenced Scotland. Ivanhoe remained on most maps until the 1920s when it was largely subsumed into the 20th century community of Silver Lake.
Description: The stretch of Rowena Avenue in Silver Lake (it continues into Los Feliz) is where I live and was formerly the home of my gentlemen's shop, Brightwell. Also included in this map are the streets of Ivanhoe (a district of Silver Lake) which are named after the Scottish novel of the same name. I made this map around 2014, I think.
