Legio Viii Augusta Pillows
Description: A bull and the LEG VIII AVG inscription take their cue from an ancient shield boss associated with Legio VIII Augusta. This original illustration uses uneven dark earth pigment and worn Roman lettering to suggest a mark made by hand in its own time, without the finish of a modern crest. It is a period-inspired interpretation, not an exact reproduction of the surviving object. The transparent background lets the product color show through; dark umber ink reads best on light colors.
