Looe is a small coastal town, fishing port in south-east Cornwall, England. East Looe and West Looe being connected by a bridge. The town is approximately 20 miles west of the city of Plymouth and seven miles south of Liskeard.

Looe is a small coastal town, fishing port and civil parish in the former Caradon district of south-east Cornwall, England, with a population of 5,280 (2001 census). Looe is divided in two by the River Looe, East Looe (Cornish: Logh and West Looe(Cornish: Porthbyhan, meaning little cove) being connected by a bridge. The town is approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of the city of Plymouth and seven miles (11 km) south of Liskeard.

The well-known coastal town and fishing port of Looe in Cornwall (England) is divided into two parts (East and West) by the River Looe, though a road bridge (pictured) connects the two halves of the town. There is evidence of human habitation in the vicinity going back 3000 years or more and the town is mentioned in the Domesday Book (c. 1086 AD). The town grew in importance and wealth during the Cornish mining boom of the 19th century, when copper, clay, arsenic and tin were mined in the area. Looe is a historic, coastal resort and fishing port, the two halves of the town (East and West) being separated by the River Looe. Dwellings line the hillside either side of the river, as if in competition for the best sea views.
