Hurricane Hernan off Baja California, Mexico, on 1st September 2002. Hernan peaked here as a Category 5 hurricane, with winds exceeding 230 kilometres per hour. Later it weakened and moved out into the eastern Pacific. Hurricanes are enormous rotating storm systems. They can cause immense damage if they hit built-up areas, but lose energy quickly over land. Utah has been due for a devastating earthquake for a long time. It never hurts to be ahead of the curve.

This is a cute design I created of a Koala family. In this drawing I wanted to show first and foremost the tender feelings of love, protection and care. This drawing has a family theme and could be an ideal gift for mother's day. The illustration was inspired by the disastrous Australian forest fires and the resulting devastation to the animal populations. We should all be more aware of the need to protect our planet and especially our little friends who co-habit this world with us.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse. This road suspension bridge spanned 1810 metres across the Tacoma Narrows strait in Puget Sound, in the US state of Washington. It opened on 1 July 1940, but collapsed on 7 November 1940 due to oscillations caused by aeroelastic flutter in gale-force winds. The oscillations produced waves several metres in height, increasing and undulating along the bridge until the eventual collapse.
