Not Love Pillows
Description: Released in 1981, Fire of Love is the debut record of the American rock band The Gun Club. The album is considered groundbreaking in being the first of its kind to combine the hard, stripped-down sound of punk rock with American roots music. Description: The '60s were a wild time to be alive! The sexual revolution was in full swing, and a generation distrustful of the government formed a counter-culture the valued art, music, and free love over and above norms that would make them tools of the traditional capitalist culture. At the same time, not all was well in the world. The war in Vietnam raged on, to mixed sentiment at home. "Make Love, Not War" became a rallying phrase of the anti-establishment peace movement much to the chagrin of the older generation. Upon seeing young protestors take the slogan to the streets of California, Ronald Reagan famously remarked: "Those guys look like they can't make either of both." Ouch.
