HMS St Albans, Dartmouth Number of views as of 13th February 2019 = 1000. The town of Dartmouth, south Devon, England, steeped in naval and smuggling history, as seen from across the River Dart at Kingswear. Overlooking the town is the Britannia Royal Naval College, where Royal Navy officers have been trained since 1905 (some of them must be getting on a bit now)! The Royal Navy frigate HMS St Albans (F83) is moored on the river. Date: 20th March 2011.

*Not a Ferrari!* Number of views as of 15th June 2018 = 1575. Ferrari are not the only company to use the 'Prancing Horse' logo, as can be seen on this 1970 Aveling and Barford dump truck, still looking good at 40. The Aveling Barford company was formed in 1933, an amalgamation of two other UK companies - Aveling & Porter and Barford & Perkins, both manufacturers of steam and motor rollers. The company continued to produce road rollers and other construction equipment from its base in Grantham, Lincolnshire. The Aveling Barford marque is currently owned by Wordsworth Holdings, who sadly went into administration in March 2010, a victim of the recession. Let's hope the marque can be saved. *Glasgow Tramcar No 22* Number of views as of 8th October 2018 = 1450. Location: National Tramway Museum, Crich, Derbyshire, England. The Tramway Museum is built on the site of an old quarry, and as well as featuring an impressive collection of trams, the site also includes several reconstructed buildings, including the one shown here, which was the former Derby Assembly Rooms. This shot was taken on a freezing cold, misty, murky day in February when it was almost too cold to operate the trams due to the risk of the points freezing! The Ice Age Is Coming Number of views as of 26th February 2018 = 1160. Six inches of snow on the ground and icicles covering every twig and branch on the Blorenge, between Abergavenny and Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, Wales. At 480 metres, the Blorenge is far from being the highest mountain in Wales but it dominates the local landscape south of Abergavenny. Meanwhile the afternoon sun illuminates the face of another nearby mountain, the 596 metres Sugar Loaf (top centre). Date: 1st January 2010. Palace House, Beaulieu Number of views as of 18th July 2018 = 1290. Palace House in the village of Beaulieu (New Forest, Hampshire, England) dates from the 13th century and was originally the Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey. It has been home to the Montagu family since 1538, when it was purchased from the Crown following the dissolution of the monasteries. The grounds of the Beaulieu estate also include the ruins of the Cistercian Abbey and the National Motor Museum. Date: 25th March 2012.

Royal Mail Coach Number of views as of 26th February 2018 = 1280. A replica of the London-Holyhead Royal Mail Coach, seen here with four horse team, at the New Forest Show, near Brockenhurst, Hampshire, England. In the late 18th century, these mail coaches would cover the 261 mile 'Irish Mail' route between the city of London and the port of Holyhead (Anglesey, Wales), in approximately 27 hours. At Holyhead, the mail continued its journey to Dublin by boat. The advent of the railways saw the rapid decline of the mail coach in the 1840s and 1850s. Date: 28th July 2011.

Clam Bridge, Wycoller Number of views as of 6th May 2019 = 1150. Clam Bridge is an ancient stone footbridge and ford at Wycoller Country Park, Wycoller, near Colne, Lancashire, England. Belted Galloway Number of views as of 20th November 2018 = 1250. A 'Belted Galloway' calf, pictured at Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park, near Guiting Power, Gloucestershire, England. The Belted Galloway is a rare breed of cattle, originating from Galloway in Scotland. Date: 29th May 2011.

*Sunset over Durdle Door* Number of views as of 8th March 2018 = 1650. Durdle Door is situated a couple of miles to the west of Lulworth on the so-called 'Jurassic Coast' of Dorset, England. One of the most photographed places on the south coast, Durdle Door is an impressive, natural limestone rock archway formed about 140 million years ago. Here, the winter sun sets over the Isle of Portland, illuminating the arch with golden light. Date: 12th December 2010. Kerrera Wreck Number of views as of 22nd May 2019 = 1770. Shot this abandoned fishing boat at The Little Horse Shoe bay on the Island of Kerrera, just off the coast of Argyll, Scotland. The Water Tower, Upper Gardens, Bournemouth Number of views as of 8th June 2017 = 1030. Built in 1883, this former water tower is situated in the Upper Gardens in Bournemouth, Dorset, England. The gardens follow the Bourne Stream from Branksome (where it emerges from a pipe) a distance of over 2 miles to the Pier approach by the beach. There are 4 sections, namely Coy Pond, the Upper Gardens, Central Gardens and Lower Gardens. The Lower Gardens are a popular meeting place during the summer months but tend to be avoided by those 'in the know', who prefer the peace and tranquility to be found further upstream. All Souls College, Oxford Number of views as of 14th February 2019 = 1140. The College of All Souls of the Faithful Departed (Oxford, England) was founded in 1438 by Henry VI and Henry Chichele (a fellow of New College and Archbishop of Canterbury). Today the College is primarily an academic research institution with particular strengths in the Humanities and Social and Theoretical Sciences and an outstanding library. Although its fellows are involved in teaching and supervision of research, the college has no undergraduates. Date: 30th October 2010. Pendle Panopticon Number of views as of 7th July 2019 = 1100. This is "Atom", the Pendle Panopticon, part of a "visionary scheme to create a unique series of 21st century landmarks across East Lancashire... as symbols of the renaissance of the area". Obviously the lunatics are no longer confined to the asylum and have infiltrated Lancashire County Council, whose idea it was "to encourage a wider public to discover Wycoller and from there to go on and explore the delights of the surrounding countryside". An admirable aim chaps, but perhaps a few brochures would have done the trick! Old Harry Number of views as of 22nd April 2019 = 1330. Old Harry Rocks are situated on the Dorset coast between Studland and Swanage. They mark the eastern end of the "Jurassic Coast" World Heritage Site, stretching from here to East Devon, demonstrating a rich geological history going back 185 million years. The chalk stack on the right is I believe Old Harry himself, though there does seem to be some disagreement about this. The name 'Old Harry' may be a synonym for the devil, or it could be that the rocks were named after a famous Poole pirate, Harry Paye, who used to store his contraband nearby. There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that the rocks take their name from English football manager Harry Redknapp, a resident of nearb...

The Tea House, Compton Acres Number of views as of 18th July 2018 = 1380. Another shot of the Tea House in the Japanese Garden at Compton Acres, Poole, Dorset, England. Compton Acres was laid out in 1924, in a Victorian mixed style design with seven distinct gardens to wander around and enjoy, including the fine Japanese and Italian Gardens. The Japanese garden is superbly planted with and maintained, with stepping stones and bridges crossing the pond, where large koi swim close to the surface. Date: 8th May 2010. Tug Boat Herbert Number of views as of 24th April 2019 = 1080. Under a lowering sky, Poole Harbour Commissioners tug, the Herbert Ballam, moored up at Poole Quay, Dorset, England. Rear left is the modern Sunseeker factory, which turns out highly desirable luxury motor cruisers, whilst Sydenhams wood yard can be seen on the right just beyond the town lifting bridge. Frog Went a Courting Number of views as of 17th January 2018 = 1330. One Saturday in May 2010, I met up with RB members David Cross and Pat & Michael Tapping, who were over from South Australia. We spent a few hours in the picturesque setting of Compton Acres (Poole, Dorset), one of the finest privately owned gardens in Southern England. The weather was rather overcast and a little chilly for the time of the year (especially for those used to the warmer climes of South Aus). However, I'm sure we grabbed a few good shots between us. This shot of the Japanese garden with the Tea House in the background put me in mind of the traditional English folk song Frog Went a Courting, and he couldn't have found a more romantic setting for it! Swyre Head Number of views as of 8th April 2018 = 1280. The massive chalk cliffs of Swyre Head, west of Lulworth Cove along Dorset's Jurrasic Coast in the south of England. This shot is taken from Bat's Head, looking eastwards. Beyond Swyre Head, the rock formation jutting into the ocean is Durdle Door. Beyond lies Lulworth and on the horizon St Alban's Head. Lundy Sunset Number of views as of 29th June 2018 = 1075. Lundy Island is the largest island in the Bristol Channel, lying 12 miles off the coast of North Devon, England. Three miles long and less than a mile wide, with fewer than 50 inhabitants, the whole island has been designated as an SSSI (Site of Special, Scientific Interest) and is managed by the Landmark Trust on behalf of the National Trust. This shot was taken from the village of Mortehoe, between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Date: 14th September 2013.

St Mary's Fairford Number of views as of 26th March 2016 = 1000. The parish church of St Mary in the small Cotswold town of Fairford, South Gloucestershire, England. There has been a church at Fairford since at least 1125, but little of this early building now remains, a few fragments of it being incorporated into the magnificent Late Perpendicular church that can be seen today (left). St Mary's is one of several so-called 'wool churches' in the Cotswolds, built from the proceeds acquired from the successful wool and cloth industries of mediaeval times. The church was consecrated in June 1497 and is said to house the most complete set of mediaeval stained and painted glass windows in the country. Date: 21st March 2010.

The Peerless Princess Tammy Number of views as of 22nd April 2019 = 1575. This Peerless Traction Engine 'Princess Tammy' was built in the USA in 1895 by the Geiser Manufacturing Company of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. This engine is believed to be the only one of its kind in the UK. Lovingly restored to full working order over the last 7 years by the current owner. Pictured at the Bournemouth & Poole Preservation Club's annual Steam & Vehicle Show at Canford Park Arena, Poole, Dorset, England. Date: 20th June 2010.

Exeter Quay Number of views as of 29th August 2018 = 1000. Dating back 2000 years or more, the historic quayside by the River Exe in the city of Exeter (Devon, England) has seen many changes over the centuries. Exeter's wealth came from the woollen trade which peaked in the mid 18th century. Cloth woven in the area was loaded onto ships on the quay and transported all over the world. Nowadays the quay offers relative peace and quiet, just 5 minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Date: 8th December 2012.

Campanile San Marco and Doge's Palace, Venice Number of views as of 23rd June 2016 = 1300. St Mark's Campanile, the bell tower of St Mark's Basilica in Venice, is located in a corner of St Mark's square and is a recognizable symbol of the city. The tower is 98.6 meters tall, and is capped by a pyramidal spire, at the top of which sits a golden weathervane in the form of the archangel Gabriel. The campanile reached its present form in 1514. As it stands today, however, the tower is a reconstruction, completed in 1912 after the collapse of 1902. The Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale di Venezia) was the residence of the Doge of Venice. Lulworth Castle Reprised Number of views as of 4th December 2017 = 1100. A third (and final?) shot of Lulworth Castle (Dorset, England), this time taken from the south-west corner of the grounds and showing three of the castle's four turrets. Rebuilding of the castle (following a disastrous fire in 1929) was part funded by English Heritage. More information on the history of the castle can be found here. Date: 6th May 2013.

*Seil Island* Number of views as of 4th April 2018 = 1240. This shot was taken from just outside the former slate-mining village of Ellenabeich, the main settlement on the Island of Seil. Seil is a small island on the east side of the Firth of Lorn, 10-12 miles south-west of Oban, Argyll, Scotland. Seil has been linked to the Scottish mainland since 1792 when Thomas Telford's Clachan Bridge (otherwise known as the Bridge Over the Atlantic) was built. The slate quarry at Ellenabeich was started by the Campbells of Breadalbane in 1745, and by 1842 new steam powered pumps meant that quarrying could take place to a depth of 250ft below sea level, in a vast pit separated from the sea by just a narrow strip of rock.
