_Fallugia Paradoxa_ - An evergreen desert shrub, the Apache Plume is a member of the Rose family (Rosaceae) and had a wide rage throughout the southwest.

The colors and texture of the sheer cliff wall at Capitol Reef National Park in Utah, breathtaking in its own right is rounded out as a refreshing scene to capture, with a cluster of vegetation. Staircase ascending into Big Ditch, what once was Main Street, after the flood of 1895 sent a wall of water rushing through the town cutting a 35 ft. deep canal down the street, now is a river walk park. Yearly monsoon seasons can turn this usual quiet creek at the bottom of Big Ditch into an amazing raging torrent of water. The high desert comes alive with color as the monsoon rains arrive. One of the most spectacular events is the Agave in full bloom, a most amazing sight. The Agave use all of its energy to sprout up its stalk of blooms, boldly, high above the plant, 0nly to have the Agave wither and die after completing this extraordinary fete of nature. A window into the past, 'Standing in the Shadow of Time' reminds me of the classic photography I grew up with.
