Red Dog Pillows
Description: Also called Ainu-ken or Ainu dog, this hardy medium sized breed was developed by the indigenous people of Japan after immigrants brought similar dogs during the Jomon Period pre 300BC. The modern name Hokkaido comes from the prefecture they were raised in. Like many Japanese breeds, these versatile canines feature a curly tail, pricked ears, and a dense double-layer coat perfect for cold weather. The Hokkaido was traditionally used to hunt large game like bears, but have been used as search and rescue dogs and companion pets throughout the centuries. The Do-ken is a beloved Japanese institution and extremely rare outside the island nation.
