Ring Billed Gull Pillows

Doing a flyby over the Tsawwassen Ferry Causeway at very close range on an early and blustery afternoon in July 2015 was this adult Ring-Billed Gull. I found this photo, which captures the downstroke, to be even more dramatic than the upstroke, and it helps draw the shadows away from the subject's face.

A couple of Seagulls were resting on the sidewalk.

Fighting gull

I loved the colours brought out by the backlighting, those interesting pinks! I am a bird lover, and even the "nuisance" birds have their place. These guys are clever and adaptable.

The ring billed gull sits on his rock and contemplates time. All is changing, slowly or quickly, everything is impermanent. Existence is a fickle mystery.

Ring-billed gull drawing, a familiar sight for any shore or french fry connoisseur! This is a study for a larger painting, but I liked the way it turned out.

Ring-billed Gull Handrail Walker ©Debra Martz What I can say other than to advise keeping your hands off the handrails! This one was using the rail to stroll slowly along, stop and check the waters below for possible prey and stroll again leaving its mark. Even when I walked on by, it did not depart the rail. Ring Billed Gull in Landing Position by Debra Martz Bird watching at the upper level of the spillway is always enjoyable. Even in off seasons, you will still see a number of birds in this location. This gull, with wings spread upward and fee down, is ready for landing. Ring-billed Gull In Flight by Debra Martz One of those rare days when the wind was not sweeping down the plains of Oklahoma, therefore, calm water. The only problem is the drought conditions causing the lake to dry out in many areas. Ring-billed gull scapes

The ring-billed gull (Larus delawarensis) is a medium-sized gull. The genus name is from Latin Larus which appears to have referred to a gull or other large seabird. The specific delawarensis refers to the Delaware River.

Ring-billed Gull Gliding Quietly by Debra Martz Several gulls were quietly gliding over the spillway. I chose this one to focus on because with each circle around it was coming a bit closer to where I was. A wonderful winter day filled with sunshine highlighted the gull and brought out the colors of nature in the background. Canon Rebel T3i The ring-billed gull is a medium-sized (19 inches long) gull, and in adult plumage it has a light gray back and wings on a pure white body. Its wing tips are black with white spots, and it has a black ring near the end of its yellow bill. Males and females look alike. Young ring-billed gulls take three years to mature, during which time their bodies and wings are varying shades of mottled brown and gray, with a white tail that has a prominent, black terminal band. These gulls are smaller, lighter, and more graceful-looking than similarly patterned herring gulls, and they have a more buoyant appearance in flight. Coastal North Carolina USA. Departure With the Fish of Its Dreams by Debra Martz This Ring-billed Gull wanted to get as far away from the others as quickly as possible. It is not every day that you see them catch a fish of this size. And gulls will be gulls as they try and steal others catches.
